Where have I been you ask?????

Not much to report in the past week but now things are happening. We received almost all of the Basic Grey "Wassail". I put it out tonight. A couple of our boxes were waylaid to Yellowknife, NWT. That was fun to retrieve. I ordered the newest Basic Grey line called "Bittersweet" tonight. It's very LOVEly. Tim Holtz "Distress Stickles" and "Masks" are here. He has a "You Tube" video using them if you are interested. A huge box of vintage/antique products arrived. I intend to kit the products. I think the "junking" bug bit me at the 7 Gypsies event.

The December class schedule should be posted by tomorrow.

"Wonder of the Week" is being displayed on the silver coil rack beside the cardstock. Keep an eye on it - there may be questions asked at events we hold. Of course there is always a story behind each "wonder" as well.

Our January 17th Anniversary Event has a waiting list now. Payment will secure your spot if you have already registered. Thanks

Check out the picture of Robin and I with Teresa Collins in the latest Canadian Scrapbooker magazine. Does that make us famous????? ha, ha, ha

Teresa Collins Retailers' Contest

Okay, so we didn't win first prize but we did win 3rd!  Not bad since we were competing with every other store in North America that carries Teresa's product.  Check out our entry at www.productperformers.com and click on Teresa Collins contest.  I love that one of the other winners is a store in Grande Prairie.  Canadians rock!!

I am right now putting together an adorable Christmas mini album to teach as a class in December.  Unfortunately Teresa won't be here to teach it herself but her product is so darn great that I think you'll make do with me!

Copic Markers

Today I obtained my "Copic Marker Certification". I attended a hands-on seminar and training session in Vancouver hosted by Open Page Wholesalers. Mariann Walker was the instructor. She represented Copic. We have ordered the scrapbooking sets and the metallic markers. They have already been shipped to us. Hopefully we will see them by the end of the week.

7 Gypsies Event

Maureen Williams and I attended the retailer "Gypsy Caravan" event put on by 7 Gypsies in Manhattan Beach, CA this past Friday. It was very intense but FABULOUS!! We made jewelry, a photo carousel (a must see at the store) taught by Sande Krieger, a Binderie punch mini album taught by Paula Cheney and a product/technique bookboard album showcasing many of their unique products taught by Janelle Smith. They are very good designers and teacher - but keep up! The theme was "Gypsy" so they encouraged participants to dress gypsy and be creative. Sooooooooooooo I packed up my best gypsy-wear and dressed up for the event. There were 97 women in attendance and I was the only one (other than Janelle Smith) who went "all out". Oh well, I usually leave an impression on people!!!! I had my picture taken several times that day. I had on 25 necklaces, rings on my fingers and toes, 7 scarves, a hoop earring and other dangly earrings in my ears, 7 bracelets on one arm and about 10 on the other, a babushka on my head, amulet/potions pouches around my waist, a blousey top and a jagged edge skirt, a big chunky belt and a scarf around my waist - I was surprised that I didn't have the perfect gypsy footwear but I made do with a little pair of wrap around sandals in a metallic color - very "magpie-ish".

We did a bit of shopping while in Manhattan Beach-I discovered the shop called "Anthologie". OMG it's my new favorite store!!!!! Of course I had to pay duty again at Customs and Immigration.

Lynn Thune (http://onelittleword.typepad.com/olw) had her group of gals at the store on Saturday for an extravaganza crop. She is amazing! They are amazing! Check out her stuff on the "One Little Word" typepad website listed above.

It's Tuesday.............

It's Tuesday and a wee bit chilly out there. I stayed at the store until after midnight last night finishing the "Karen Foster Advent Calendar" class sample. I was pleased with how it turned out. The class is scheduled for Nov 11. A new "Basic Grey" layout is available for viewing. The class will be on Nov 17. Thanks Michon (with the new birthday bracelet)! I am off to Manhattan Beach, California on Thursday for a fabulous retailer event put on by 7 Gypsies. I can hardly wait. I wonder if I'll have to buy another suitcase to bring back all of my projects (or maybe shopping finds)? Does anybody need anything???? I am a self-professed shopaholic!
We have some new alcohol inks in the store from Jacquard. They are called "Pinata Inks". They even have a white ink - how bizarre. The color palette they offer is very bright and vibrant. How are they Diane (the first purchaser of the whole line)?

Crazy Saturday

The "Crop 'N Crawl" event shopped through our store on Saturday. What a HOOT! Two bus loads, of 30 scrappers each, participated in the "Crop 'N Crawl". The theme was Hawaiian/luau. We dressed up our store with coconut bikini bras, palm trees, parrots, raffia grass doorway curtain, a Martguerita Tiki Bar, "shrimps on the barbie", grass skirted hostesses, balloons etc. Lori and Robin greeted the last bus with an outdoor hula dance! Thanks to all who participated and the organizer, Allison Orthner.
